We’re always keen to get new people involved in the gig club, and offer the opportunity for new rowers to join the club and learn the skill of gig rowing.
We also offer regular opportunities for guests and islanders alike to just come along and have a go at rowing for fun – and to help raise funds to help preserve and maintain these beautiful wooden vessels.

Join the Club
Islanders and staff members – whether seasonal or permanent – are very welcome to join the club and get involved with rowing.
Each season, we welcome several novices to our number, so no experience is necessary – we’ll teach you all you need to know. There’s no pressure to commit to joining a regular crew if you don’t want to; you’re welcome to come along and just have a go!
To find out more, send us your details below and we’ll get back to you…
Try Rowing
Throughout the summer, we offer visitors and islanders the chance to come along and experience rowing in a gig!
The sessions usually take place from the beach at New Grimsby and you’ll be on the water for 20 – 30 minutes, with one of our experienced coxswains showing you the ropes.
These sessions are a great way to encourage people to get involved with the club, and we also use them to help raise money to maintain our beautiful gigs, so there’s a suggested minimum donation of £5 per person. Anyone is welcome – young or old; new rower or old hand!
The next sessions are still to be confirmed.
Meet us on the beach at New Grimsby!
